Last year, Ye Xiaowen, Minister of the State Administration of Religious Affairs of the People's Republic of China, generously donated some religious books to ECF Chinese Resource Center. Now we received over 60 books from the Religious Culture Publisher and China Religion of China. These books are in Simplify Chinese and sure it is good news for our readers from mainland China.

ECF International established 'The Paul C.C. Szeto Fellowship Program for Global Studies and Research Award' through a partnership with Fuller Theological Seminary, to honor the international Christian service of Dr. Paul Szeto, ECF President for 25 years, by (1) providing scholarships for international students; and (2) supporting faculty research that will enrich the study and understanding of cultures and people across the globe. The endowment is $1 million, donated by ECF International, will enable Fuller Theological Seminary to provide fellowships for Global Studies and Research.
The Award presentation was held at Fuller Theological Seminary. Board members from both organizations attended to witness the signing of the Award document by Dr. Richard J. Mouw, President of Fuller Theological Seminary and Dr. Harold Lane, Chairman of ECF International Council.

The ECF Annual Board Meeting was held at the ECF International Headquarters in Monterey Park. The Board made a courageous step to expand the Global Partnership program and to establish the ECF Leadership Hall of Fame encouraging at least 346 individuals and families to take part in this project to raise US $1 million for the growing ECF International ministries.

Dr. Paul Szeto, Dr. & Mrs. Harold Lane, and Dr. Nathan Yeh were in Macau joining the staff and children in welcoming the official visit of Mr. Hau-wah Ho, Chief Executive Officer of Macau SAR, China to ECF Macau Orphanage.

Dr. Paul Szeto, Dr. & Mrs. Harold Lane and Dr. Nathan Yeh visited ECF Children's Center in the Philippines to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of ECF's Children's ministry in that country. Dr. Paul Szeto's 25th anniversary in serving the ministry was also commemorated. The celebration was attended by many distinguished guests including the Mayor of Bocaue, Mr. Serafin Dela Cruz

Dr. Szeto was preaching at the Grace Community Chapel in Macau and officiating baptism for new believers.

GCC released a documentary film 'Touching Life', a true story of Yanyan Li's college life while studying in the United States. Li came from Hunan, China, to study at Palmer West College of Chiropractic. Being blind, Li has experienced enormous hardships while studying in the States. With extraordinary perseverance and determination, combined with the love support and genuine friendship from his friends around him, he is courage to face and overcome all those difficulties. Send a six member Gospel Team to Macau, Kaiping, Siehui and Hong Kong for Cantonese Operatic concerts. Susanna Lam and Lisa Pang, leading Cantonese Operatic performers, gave several performances. They used classical Chinese operatic music with special wording to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

GCC released the first episode of the 'Love Never Ends - Documentaries of the Church in China', with the title of 'A lamp to my feet, a light to my path'. It documented the dynamic growth of the Church in China together with the rapid publication of the Bible.

ECF staff celebrated the Independence Day Holiday by visiting the magnificent 'Hall of The Crucifixion and Resurrection', two of the world's largest paintings, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Under the leadership of ECF staff, John Ho and Rebecca Alvidrez, four university students from the United States, Deke Wilkins, Michael Howell, Christina Fung and Gabriel Chiu, and two students from the United Kingdom, Emily Henry and Julie Smith were to Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China to hold an English Conversation Summer Camp for 120 high school students at the 42nd Middle School.

ECF presented school uniforms to 20 sponsored children at the Philippines Children Center to start the new school year.

GCC filming team led by Dr. Szeto and Dr. Karen Walker were to Shanghai and Hangzhou for filming the 'Love Never Ends – Documentaries of the Church in China' TV series on 'The Impact of Christian Women in China'.

Dr. Karen Walker, Board of Directors member, visited Grace Home Orphanage and Agape Institute in Guntur, India, a mission partner of ECF.

Two ECF English Teacher Teams were to Hangzhou for a 4-week English training for young professionals and Christian workers from churches. Team 'A' ran from July 22 to August 6, led by Dr. Theodore Szeto with three members, Joanna Szeto, Maureen Durso and Molly Chang. Team 'B' led by Donald Merkel with four members, Sally Merkel, Sarah Dallman, Wesley Ong and Faye Ong, continued teaching from August 5 to 20.

Mr. Eddie Yuen and his mother Mrs. Yuen donated a house in Guangzhou, China to ECF. The ECF Board held a Property Gift Ceremony and received the property deed from Mr. Yuen.

Winner of the 2006 'ECF Outstanding Youth Award', Miss Tong Sin Ling of Macau Orphanage was invited to visit the ECF Headquarters in Los Angeles.

GCC released the third episode of the 'Love Never Ends - Documentaries of the Church in China' with the title of 'I Have a Home'. It is a story of a Christian business man who decided to leave the high paying job to start an orphanage, with help of a local church, so the needy orphans can have a real home with Christian love and parental care. The founding of 'The Home of Hope' at Zhaoxian, Hebei, China is a great witness of local Christians who reached out to poverty stricken people in a farming community with harsh weather, rampant disease, food shortage, and limited resources. They provided hope to all.

ECF International established two scholarships at the Wusu First High School, Xingjiang, China, for two graduating students entering university annually. Each scholarship was set at US$1500. John Ho was representing ECF to present the scholarships to the two selected students, Wang Hung Tao and Xing Jin Jiang.

Dr. & Mrs. Szeto along with Dr. Andre B. Van Niekerk, Dean of the School of Business of Woodbury University, and Professor Dr. Karen Kaigler-Walker visited Zhejiang University at Hangzhou, China, for establishing educational exchange programs between both Universities. The new program will start in May 2007 by sending two professors and 16 students from Woodbury to Zhejiang.

GCC released a documentary DVD 'Crusader for Christ', a glimpse at the life journey and ministry of Dr. Harold Lane. From early days to the golden years of ministry, Dr. Lane has always served God with a positive attitude. With emphasis on outreach through media, education, travel and pastoral service, Dr. Lane and his wife, Dee, rejoice in these retirement years with the Lord's blessing.

ECF held the Annual Thanksgiving Banquet and the premiere showing of the new released DVD 'Crusader for Christ', a documentary of Dr. Harold Lane's life ministry. About 150 people attended and we also celebrated with Dr. and Mrs. Harold Lane for their 55th Wedding Anniversary.

Dr. Szeto preached at the 110th anniversary celebration of Seattle Chinese Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington.

Hosted the Fourth Cross Culture Oratorical Contest in Monterey Park, California. A total of 100 entries and divided into four different language groups (English, Mandarin I, Mandarin II and Cantonese) for the contest.

The Education & Culture Foundation and the Global Rainbow Readers Club hosted a Conference with sharing, discussion and seminars at GCC. Over 60 people attended.
