Rev. Eddie Chan, ECF Coordinator in Asia, represented ECF to present a scholarship to Miss Lau Mui Ying at the Siehui Church in China.

The ECF Annual Board Meeting was held at the ECF International Headquarters in Monterey Park. The theme for this year is “Growing with Joy”.

Mr. Chao-ping Gui, Principal of Shanghai New City High School, and Mr. Yong-xing Ma, Superintendent of the Shanghai Little East Gate Home for the Elderly, from China attended the Annual Board Meeting to make a report of the programs which has been established by ECF. They also visited local schools and Senior Homes.

Start publishing a 'Gospel Page' in the Sing Tao Daily Newspaper in Los Angeles every Saturday.

ECF International and Global Rainbow Readers Club joined together to have a Chinese New Year Sunday Service and Celebration. Over 80 people attended.

Co-sponsor the Gospel Meeting of Mr. James Chu from Hong Kong. The two meetings were held at Chinese Evangelical Free Church at Monterey Park (16th) and Bread of Life Church at Torrance (17th) respectively. The theme was “Who Holds Tomorrow?” About one thousand people attended both meetings.

Bethel Bible Institute in Thailand held the 34th Graduation Ceremony with 11 graduated from the Chinese Department and 7 from the Thai Department.

The 5th baptismal service was held at the Macau Grace Community Chapel. Three new believers were baptized by Dr. Szeto.

Dr. Szeto visited Guiyang, Guizhou, China and met with Chinese Christian leaders to work out the plan to rebuild a local church for this poor community. It will be church rebuilt #10 in China.

GCC filming team was to Kunming, Yunnan, China for filming the TV series 'Documentaries of the Church in China'.

The International Chapel held the First Anniversary Celebration and the 2nd Baptismal Service at the Pasadena Baptist Church. Six brothers and sisters were baptized, five membership transferred and one child was dedicated. The baptism and dedicaton service was conducted by Dr. Szeto.

'Rainbow Performing Group' visited Heritage Manor Senior Home in Monterey Park to bring love, joy and comfort to the seniors with music and skit.

ECF participated as an exhibitor at MissionExpo which was held at Downey First Baptist Church in Los Angeles.

Mr. John Ho, Director of Programs, was representing ECF to present scholarship at Wusu First Middle School, Xingjiang, China to two high school graduates, Dong Wu and Jin Feng Yang, to attend Cicil Aviation University and Ho Hai University respectively. The scholarship is US$1500 each.

ECF donated a love gift of $20,000 for the rebuilding of a church in Da-feng, Guizhou ($15,000) and for the earthquake relief near Chengdu, Sichuan ($5,000). The fund was sent to China Christian Council in Shanghai for immediate relief.

Present scholarships to two students at a language center and a seminarian in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Dr. Szeto visited Seattle, Washington area with meetings at the Seattle Chinese Baptist Church and Tacoma Chinese Christian Church

ECF English Teacher Team #1, led by Mr. John Ho with two members, Ms. Branda Gulbranson and Ms. Sandra Quan, was to Shijiazhuang for a 2-week English training for over 80 local English teachers.

ECF International Chapel held a Summer Retreat at the Big Bear Retreat House with 26 people attended.

ECF English Teacher Team #2, led by Mr. John Ho with five members, Ms. Beryl Carpenter, Miss Julie Smith, Miss Rachel Shackleford, Mr. Deke Wilkins and Mr. John Richards, was to Hangzhou for a 2-week English training for English teachers, students, pastors and seminarians.

GCC released a new DVD “Who Holds Tomorrow?” This is a moving story about Mr. James Chu, who was nicknamed "The Father of Chinese McDonald's" because he launched about 1,000 McDonald's restaurants all throughout China. But the sudden discovery of his brain tumor destroyed his professional dreams and altered his personal life. Through God's healing, James Chu continues to touch many lives through the ministry of his newly formed "Messengers of Life".

ECF Macau Grace Chapel Mission team led by Rev. Eddie Chan to Sihui Church at Guangdong, China. Representing ECF, Rev. Chan also presented a projector to the church to enhance contemporary worship.

Dr. Szeto was invited as Mission Conference speaker at the Community Baptist Church of San Jose, San Jose, California.

GCC released a new DVD "Touching the World with Her Heart". This is a story of the early life journey of Xiaohui Ma, China's renowned Erhu virtuoso. She travelled around the world with her Erhu and touched many hearts with beautiful music. She is truly a "Cultural Ambassador".

Dr. Szeto visited Kaiping, Guangdong, China to explore the possibility to build a church in Kaiping.

ECF Macau Orphanage celebrated its 55th Anniversary with thanksgiving ceremony and banquet. Over 200 attended the cerebration. The 55th Anniversary pictorial book was distributed.

Dr. & Mrs. Lane along with Dr. & Mrs. Szeto and Rev. Eddie Chan were at the Sihui Christian Church in Sihui, Guangdong, China, to present the Pastoral Assistantship in honor of Dr. & Mrs. Harold Lane.

Mrs. Kate Reyes, ECF Operations Manager, and Mr. Ambrose Leong, ECF Assistant to Operations Manager & Publications, visited the Children’s Center in the Philippines.

The 4th Anniversary Celebration of Global Communication Center and Global Rainbow magazine was held at the Headquarters. The theme for the celebration was “Pursuing a Fruitful Life”. Four dynamic speakers, Ms. Wendy Yeh, Mr. Job Song, Ms. Min Shao and Ms. Xiaohui Ma, shared with the audience through their exciting life experience and music. Over seventy people came to share this joyful occasion.
